I’m a careers adviser, career coach, careers consultant and career counsellor. Each of these titles brings a toolkit of approaches and I draw from them all in my work.
Currently I work remotely with individuals and undertake consultancy work, mainly with higher education employability and careers services.
I previously worked as a Careers Adviser at the University of Oxford (2011-2015) before moving to manage the team as Careers Consultancy Manager at the University of Reading (2015-2018). I went freelance following maternity leave in 2018.
I ran a successful six-week community course on career transition West Oxford Community Centre in 2019 and early 2020 (and hope to create an online version for the current job market).
Over lockdown, I was commissioned to create online careers resources for the University of London including a six-part ‘Mini-course in career decision-making’ (designed for KS4 and 5 but suitable for all).
I developed my skills working as a careers consultant at the University of Oxford from 2011-2015, and then managing the team of careers consultants at the University of Reading from 2015-2018. I also set up a job swap in 2013 and spent three months as a career counsellor in the USA at the University of California, Berkeley. Whilst at Reading I was awarded the title of Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
I achieved a Distinction in my Postgraduate Diploma in Careers Education, Information and Guidance from the University of Warwick.
Before moving into careers work, my professional background was in educational non-profits as a project manager, and prior to that I worked in access and schools liaison for the University of Oxford (where I had studied as an undergraduate).
In 2018 I had my son and began a freelance business to better balance my work and family. I live in West Oxford.
